Greetings Bulldog Families!

I’m honored and excited to be your PTA president this year.  I would like to welcome back returning students and families! I also extend a very heartfelt welcome to our new families! To all of you, I look forward to making 2014-2015 a fun and productive year.

To the PTA Executive board, committee chair leaders and all of our volunteers, I look forward to working with all of you this school year, some for the first time. I know it is you who make each event a success, through your commitment to volunteering, your donations and your attendance.

The purpose of the PTA is to first and foremost support our students. In addition, it supports the faculty, staff, parents, and the local community. “Every Child-One Voice” is the National PTA motto and the PTA is one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. This year will be no different. Your PTA has been focused on preparing an enhanced educational environment for all of our students.

An effective and successful PTA requires support and involvement of the parents of our students. It is vital. Your first opportunity to show support is to become a member of the Peter Burnett PTA.  We encourage your entire family to join our PTA-Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc.

The second way to show your support will be to participate in the numerous exciting events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. You may choose to be a committee chair, committee member, or volunteer. Whatever level of participation you choose, your time and involvement will be greatly appreciated. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they cannot attend meetings or be at school during the day. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours in or outside of school hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be worth your while—and fun! Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of all our children!

Even with the passing of Proposition 30, such programs as Music, Art, PE, and Computer Lab are still not funded within the state budget. Only through our school fundraising (over $35,000 last year) has the PTA been able to supplement those programs cut out by the state government.  None of this is possible without parent support. Any amount of time or financial support you can contribute to our students and school will be to your children’s direct benefit and is greatly appreciated.

I invite you to stay informed of our upcoming events as well as the goings-on of our school by bookmarking our website, and attending PTA meetings. Our PTA meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30p.m. in the Brann Center.  I value your time so I will always keep our PTA meetings short and informal. And please note that younger siblings are always welcome to attend.

Please contact me anytime about PTA events and activities. I am here to assist you in any way that I can.  I hold this opportunity in high regard and I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!

With appreciation,

Kimberly Ehrhart
